More About The Treatment?
The entire Profound treatment process is completed in one session which will generally last approximately 45 minutes. The patient is given a local anesthetic and experiences very little discomfort during the procedure.
Unlike a surgical facelift where patients encounter scarring, severe swelling, and a fairly lengthy recovery period, the Profound Microneedling procedure has very little downtime. Patients may experience up to 7 days of minor swelling, bruising, and redness, however, most patients resume normal activities within 24 hours.

After the treatment is administered, skin cells release proteins called cytokines which induce the healing of wounds. Cytokines in turn attract large white blood cells called macrophages which are able to locate and remove the damaged tissue caused by the microneedling process.
Macrophages again release a new group of cytokines to attract fibroblasts to the site of the injury. Fibroblasts are the restorative cells that replace damaged heated tissue and are vital to the restoration of the skin back to a more youthful state.
As the healing process continues, the number of macrophages decrease, fibroblasts increase, and the body produces new elastin, collagen, and hyaluronic acid. In effect, the aging process of the skin is reversed, as a result of the anabolic, or restorative skin activity, now exceeding the catabolic, or destructive skin activity.
When Do The Results Become Visible?
Collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production begins immediately and continues for a number of months. Visible results generally appear within 3 months and continue to improve for the next 3 – 6 months.
